The Minister of National Defence Dimitris Avramopoulos, right after the earthquake in Northern Aegean, in a phone call with the Chief of HNDGS General Michail Kostarakos commanded the Armed Forces’ units of the wider region to be ready to respond to requests by the responsible local authorities and the General Secretariat of Civil Protection.
The Commander of the Hellenic 1st Army Lieutenant General Vassileios Tellidis along with the Commander of the 4th Army Corps Lieutenant General Christos Chalkidis are already travelling to Samothraki Island and the Deputy Commander of the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands Major General Anastasios Patmios is travelling to Lemnos Island.
