After the completion of the exercise, Mr. Avramopoulos extended the following address:
“Mister Prime Minister,
First of all, on behalf of the political and military leadership, we welcome you. Being responsible, on behalf of the Government, for this very crucial and sensitive national sector, I assure you that what you experienced and observed today is the reflection of reality, as it is in the Hellenic Armed Forces; a place where, as I frequently say, Greece of honour, of principles and of duty reveals
itself incontestably. Above all, this is due to the personnel in the Armed Forces.
Greece, above and beyond the crisis, remains a strong country, thanks to the Hellenic Armed Forces that are always at the service of their higher aim, which is to ensure the country’s integrity and independence, but that also put at the service of international legality, whenever needed.
Mister Prime Minister, I welcome you and invite you to the floor”.
The Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, addressing the participants of the exercise, said the following, among others:
“Greece of pride, Greece of power, Greece of prestige is here; in our Thrace, in all our Country. Thrace is one of the safest corners of Greece. I would really like to congratulate the Armed Forces on this excellent exercise, from every aspect. The Armed Forces are the guarantor of our country’s security and I repeat that we are here, we proudly observed the strength, the dignity and the status of the Armed Forces.
I would also like to say that the state will do what is needed so as to respond by every means to the circumstances and the needs, even as far as the payroll issue is concerned, in order to guarantee to these brilliant people their future. This is the spirit of the Greek soldier, as we saw it behind each aircraft, each helicopter, each tank.
Mister Minister, Chief, I would also like to congratulate you on this excellent experience you offered today to all of us here. It is our honour to attend this exercise.
Thank you very much”.
