I am very pleased to have visited Morocco and I would like to thank the Moroccan authorities for their warm welcome.
Morocco is a strategic partner of the European Union. We face the same challenges on migration.
In the Mediterranean, a large number of migrants have died. The numbers are still not certain, but regardless of the numbers, this is unacceptable.
Since Friday, more than 10.000 migrants were saved thanks to the participation of Frontex and the joint border operation Triton.
We are aware that the situation is getting worse. We must all work together. We have to work in close partnership with our neighbors.
Morocco is an excellent example. Morocco was the first country to sign a mobility partnership. This helped to intensify the EU's support for Morocco's migration policy. I hope to find the same determination from other countries in the region which I will soon visit.
I'm counting on the Member States of the European Union to take more responsibility and to show solidarity by mobilizing the necessary resources, especially when there is a significant influx of migrants at our external borders.
This is currently the case with Italy and Greece. The Commission is here to support them and to support our friendly neighbors. That is why the Commission will adopt a comprehensive and strategic approach in the context of the European Agenda on Migration which will be presented in late May.
In the area of security, Morocco plays a stabilizing role in the region. The EU is very concerned about the growing threat of foreign terrorist fighters. The fight against radicalization is a transnational problem. Morocco shares the same concerns.
Once again, I thank Morocco for the warm welcome.
(Following a question by a journalist, the Commissioner added:)
The Member States are responsible for the implementation of our policy. Europe is doing its job. We have already taken a very important initiative and by the end of May, Europe for the first time will have a comprehensive holistic policy on migration.
As I said before, Europe is accomplishing its duty and it’s up to the Member States to implement it. Moreover, sharing responsibilities is of great importance and, of course, showing solidarity.

Je suis très content d'être venu au Maroc. Je remercie chaleureusement les autorités marocaines pour leur accueil.
Le Maroc est un partenaire stratégique de l'Union Européenne. Nous devons affronter les mêmes défis dans le domaine de la migration.
En Méditerranée, un nombre important de migrants sont décédés. Les chiffres sont toujours incertains mais peu importe le nombre cela est dans tous les cas une situation inacceptable.
Depuis vendredi plus de 10.000 migrants ont aussi été sauvés notamment grâce à la participation de Frontex et à l'opération conjointe de contrôle des frontières Triton.
Nous sommes conscients que la situation est en train de s'aggraver. Nous devons tous travailler ensemble. Travailler en partenariat avec nos voisins.
Le Maroc est un excellent exemple. Le Maroc a été le premier pays tiers à signer un partenariat de mobilité. Cela a permis d'intensifier le support de l'UE à la politique migratoire marocaine. J'espère rencontrer la même volonté de la part des autres pays de la région que je vais visiter prochainement.
Je compte sur les Etats Membres de l'UE pour prendre toute leur responsabilité. Ils doivent faire preuve de solidarité en mobilisant les moyens nécessaires notamment quand il y a un afflux importants de migrants à un point de notre frontière extérieure.
Ceci est le cas actuellement en Italie et en Grèce. La Commission est là pour les soutenir et pour soutenir nos amis voisins. C'est pourqoui la Commission va adopter une approche globale et stratégique dans la cadre de l'agenda europeen sur la migration qui sera présenté fin mai.
Dans le domaine de la sécurité, le Maroc joue un rôle de stabilisateur dans la région. L'UE est très préoccupée par la menace croissante des combattants terroristes étrangers. La lutte contre la radicalisation est un problème transnational. Le Maroc partage les mêmes préoccupations.
Je remercie de nouveau le Maroc pour son accueil chaleureux.
