The Minister of National Defence Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos will depart for Brussels on Monday, November 18, to participate in the two days’ meeting of EU’s Foreign Affairs Council.
On Monday afternoon, he will attend the joint meeting of Foreign Affairs and Defence Ministers and on Tuesday, November 19, he will attend the meeting of European Defence Agency(EDA)’s steering board, as well as the meeting of EU’s Defence Ministers.
The main purpose of the meeting is to prepare December’s European Council on topics of Common Security and Defence Policy which are discussed for the first time since 2008.
In view of the Greek Presidency in the first half of 2014, Mr. Avramopoulos will refer, among others, to the priorities of the Greek Presidency as far as matters of Defence and Security are concerned, as well as to the Informal meeting of Defence Ministers to be held in Athens on February 20-21, 2014.
