The Minister of National Defence, Dimitris Avramopoulos, will attend the final phase of the Field Exercise (FX) “Parmenion 2013” that will take place tomorrow at the Exercise Field of “Psilos Stalos” in the prefecture of Evros.
Mr. Avramopoulos will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanassis Davakis, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Michail Kostarakos, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Athanassios Tselios, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis and the Chief of HAFGS, Lieutenant General (AF) Evangelos Tournas.
The national joint exercise “Parmenion 2013” is carried out from September 30 until October 4 2013 throughout Greece and within the Athens FIR.
The aim of this exercise is the training of General Staffs and Units of the Armed Forces on the conduct of joint missions, based on existing plans, as well as the promotion of cooperation and coordination with bodies of the political sector, and more specifically: the Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection, the Ministry of Shipping and the Aegean, the Hellenic Police, the Hellenic Fire Corps, the Hellenic Coast Guard, the National intelligence Service, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Hellenic National Meteorological Service, the Secretariat General of Information and Communication, the Secretariat General of Mass Media and the Directorate of Defence-political/civil Emergency Planning.
