Defence Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos’ statement on the agreement of Geneva meeting on Syria

“The agreement of Geneva meeting on Syria, which sets aside a potential military solution, affirms the position of Greece, which from the first moment opted for a political solution, stating, though, that people who are responsible for the use of chemical weapons, which is a crime of war and against humanity, should be arrested and punished.

This was the position I reiterated also during the last EU Defence Ministers’ meeting, held in Vilnius on Europe’s common defence and security policy and focusing mainly on the Syrian crisis.”
