This is the beginning of the process on how we envisage the future of Europe. It is the moment to start reflecting and considering about our common house, the one that we call Europe.
Let’s hope that this dialogue will give fruitful results. We are now at a moment when the European project is at stake and we have to defend it. I am personally committed to this dialogue and I believe that the outcome will be positive, and we will respond to the questions of the younger generations, where Europe is heading towards.
It is difficult for Europe to become a federal system, but at least we can adopt -and this is my opinion- a federal type of functional cooperation in the fields of migration, security, foreign affairs and economy.
We are in front of challenging times and the Commission has taken up its responsibilities and this is the ambition of the paper as it has been very well prepared and will be presented today by President Juncker.
