Today the Council is going to discuss security issues. Very rightly, the citizens of Europe demand more security. I am going to present to the Ministers the ETIAS proposal. I look forward to their reactions. As you know, ETIAS is a very concrete answer to our citizens’ demands for security. In this way, we do not only ensure security for our citizens, but we also secure safe travels.
We are also going to discuss the abuse of internet by terrorists for their propaganda. Last year we had very successfully convened the very first Internet Forum here in Brussels. Now we are in view of preparing the second round. I look forward to having a very deep discussion on this issue with the Ministers.
As I said in the beginning, security matters and it is on the top of our priorities. We have been working with all MS during the last year, we have the very first tangible and positive results, and we intend to build on this momentum.
Question on solidarity:
Yesterday I made a statement on that. There is more to do, but I think it is the moment for everybody to understand that we have to mean what we say when we talk about solidarity. Right now we build on this concept, but personally I believe that solidarity cannot but have one and only meaning for everybody.
