Thanks to the enactment of the mutual agreement signed between the Mayors of Athens and Istanbul, DA provided for generous aid to the victims of the earthquake, since the very beginning of the tragic incident which hit Istanbul in 1999.
This initiative brought down centuries of hostility between Greeks and Turks, opening up new ways of communication between the two neighboring people.
