At the instruction of Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos, the Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General, Ambassador Anastassis Mitsialis, contacted the Chinese Ambassador to Athens, Mr. Du Qiwen, to express the Greek government’s sincere condolences for the victims of the catastrophic earthquake that hit China’s Sichuan province today. The Secretary General also expressed to the Chinese Ambassador the Greek people’s support for and solidarity with the Chinese people in these difficult hours, as well as Greece’s readiness to provide any assistance that might be needed.
