The Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and the Minister of National Defence Dimitris Avramopoulos attended today the joint military exercise “PYRPOLITIS” which was held on Dokos Island.
The exercise was also attended by the Alternate Minister of National Defence Fofi Gennimata, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis, the Chief of HNDGS General Michail Kostarakos, the Chief of HAGS Lieutenant General Athanasios Tselios, the Chief of HNGS Vice-Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis, the Chief of HAFGS Lieutenant General Evangelos Tournas, the Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard Vice-Admiral Dimitrios Bantias, the government’s General Secretary Panagiotis Baltakos and the Special Secretary of the Ministry of National Defence Antonis Economou.
There were also present at the exercise the New Democracy MPs, Sofia Voultepsi, Christos Dimas, Ioannis Kefalogiannis and SYRIZA MP, Theodoros Dritsas, as representatives of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament. The exercise was also attended by Defence Attachés of other countries.
After the exercise the Prime Minister Antonis Samaras made the following address:
“This difficult and demanding joint exercise, this successful exercise demonstrates the high morale, the readiness, the determination and the competence of our Armed Forces. And at this difficult time for our country it fills us with pride”.
