One of the most important legacies DA left to the Ministry of Foreign Development is that our country produced for the first time a specific ‘touristic product’ focused on and adapted to the needs of the contemporary touristic market.
The “Cultural Revolution” in the Greek touristic sphere put an end to the declining trend of Greek tourism for the last decades and brought a new era marked by extroversion, systematic work and a dynamic promotion of the Greek touristic product.
A new concept for tourism, accompanied by a considerable raise of the regular budget for the Ministry of Touristic Development (more than a hundred per cent), plus 31,8 millions instead of 6,8 million Euros for the international promotion of Greek tourism through the media.
In the years 2005-6, tourism in Greece presented a considerable raise of ten per cent after a long time of stagnation.
