Message by Dimitris Avramopoulos on Greece’s vindication at the International Arbitral Tribunal, 9/8/2025

 

 

The recent decision of the International Arbitral Tribunal is the result of political will, political courage, and institutional cooperation.

In 2014, under Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, and with me serving as Minister of National Defense, in close cooperation with the military leadership, the long-standing impasse was resolved and the Hellenic Navy undertook to complete the submarine program, ensuring the country’s superiority in the Aegean and the protection of national interests.

Today’s vindication belongs to all who worked methodically and responsibly toward this goal.
