Message by Dimitris Avramopoulos on the occasion of the Sappho Festival in Mytilene, 15/7/2025

 

 

As part of the Sappho Festival, and at the invitation of the Regional Governor of the North Aegean, Kostas Moutzouris, I had the pleasure of visiting Mytilene again—a place of deep history and hospitality—and taking part in two special events of the North Aegean Region.

The signing of the Corfu Declaration by Regional Governors Trepeklis, Moutzouris, and Hatzimarkos marks a collective commitment to sustainable tourism development. I supported this initiative from the very first moment.

A particular honor and deeply moving moment was the tribute to Freddy Germanos—a man, journalist, and author who, with ethos, intellect, and principles, left his mark on his era.
