Lambis Nikolaou was an emblematic figure of Greek and international Olympism.
With integrity, humility, and foresight, he served for decades the principles of sports, leaving an indelible mark on the course of the Hellenic Olympic Committee and on our country’s relationship with the Olympic Movement.
I had the honor of working closely with him during the bid and preparation for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games—an historic national endeavor that brought Greece to the forefront of the global stage.
His consistency, kindness, and determination were among the cornerstones of that success.
Lambis Nikolaou now belongs to the Pantheon of those who honored Greece through their work and example.
We will always remember him with respect and gratitude.
