Statement by Commissioner D. Avramopoulos, following the announcement of European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, that 2 billion EUR will become available to Greece

Following the announcement of European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, that 2 billion EUR will become available to Greece in order to address the humanitarian crisis and especially unemployment, Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos, on the sidelines of ministerial conference in Vienna, stated:

“In this very difficult moment for Greece and in order to address the humanitarian crisis, the country is not alone.

“The decision of the European Commission, which was announced by President Juncker, underscores the solidarity of Europe, especially to those who are greatly affected by the economic crisis, and confirms that Greece’s participation in the eurozone is a guarantee for its security.”
