With emotion, honour and respect we say goodbye to Hans Dietrich Genscher, one of the last great European politicians, architect of the modern German diplomacy and one among the people that reunited Germany.
As a friend and supporter of Greece, he contributed significantly to the success of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the most important investment in recent years in our country.
I had the honour to have known him and to have worked with him many times during the last twenty years, when I was Mayor of Athens, as well as Minister of various governments and the last time when we saw each other in Berlin when I was Minister of Foreign Affairs.
I express my sincere condolences to his relatives and to his political family.
