It was with deep sorrow that I learned of the passing of Anna Psarouda-Benaki, an eminent figure in public life, who served her country and democracy with integrity, seriousness, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Anna Psarouda-Benaki was the very embodiment of dignity. Through her institutional presence, her scholarly formation, and her measured public discourse, she honored the Hellenic Parliament as the first woman Speaker of the House and left a distinct legacy of political civility.
I remember her with particular respect also on a personal level, as we were fellow candidates in the First Athens Constituency. Always courteous and composed, and respectful toward everyone, she set an example of how politics can be practiced with quality and restraint.
To her family and loved ones, I extend my sincere condolences.
Her memory will remain alive as a point of reference for integrity and service in public life.
