Pope Francis will be recorded in history as a profoundly progressive and humanitarian leader of the Catholic Church.
He dared to open a substantive dialogue on crucial social and moral issues—from the climate crisis and migration to the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and the challenges posed by technology.
Through his work and example, he advanced a Church that is more compassionate, more inclusive, more human. We bid him farewell with deep respect.
