The loss of my close friend, the Minister of Defence of Cyprus Tassos Mitsopoulos is heavy and multileveled. It is a loss for both the Cypriot people and Hellenism during a critical circumstance for Cyprus, but also for our broader region. It is also a loss for me personally, since together we covered a long course of partnership and personal friendship. However, above all, it is a loss for this family, his father, his wife and children, whom we console, and I wish that God will give them strength and endurance during this period.
Cyprus lost today a great public figure, Hellenism lost a big patriot and his family lost their man.
Let us stand with respect in memoriam of Tassos Mitropoulos. We bid farewell to him with feelings of affection and love, rendering tribute and acknowledging his public, respectable and patriotic brief life, filled with ethos and praiseworthiness.
