“The four S/M of the Hellenic Navy named “Pipinos”, “Matrozos”, “Katsonis”, and “Okeanos”, constructed in the Skaramagkas Shipyards come today to the possession of the Hellenic Navy.
Upon agreement with the Hellenic Shipyards S.A., the Hellenic Navy undertakes together with the subcontractors and the workforce, whose employment is absolutely safeguarded, the completion of the work left and the sea tests, in order for the S/M to be operationally integrated in the fleet.
This way, a conclusive end is put to a long-lasting adventure, securing the public amount of money available in the Ministry’s budget for the completion of the works in the S/Ms, upgrading this way the country’s defense.
After the successful resolution of the extremely complicated problem of the S/M by the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Development will continue, as the relevant Ministry, the effort for the resolution of the overall issue of the Skaramagkas Shipyards.
Regarding this result, the Prime Minister is informed, who has followed the management of the whole issue from the very beginning.
Within the coming week, the Parliamentary Committee of Defense and Armament will be briefed accordingly”.
