Visit of Commissioner Avramopoulos in the Hague ahead of the upcoming Dutch Presidency of the Council of the European Union, 5/11/2015

Minister of Security and Justice Mr. Ard van der Steur, State Secretary of Security and Justice and Minister for Immigration Mr. Klaas Dijkhoff and Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos met in The Hague today to discuss the upcoming shared priorities and actions in the field of migration and security, ahead of the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the European Union. 

The Commission and the incoming Presidency agreed that swift progress will need to be made on the further implementation of the European Agendas on Migration and Security. They discussed,amongst other things, migration, border management, relocation, return, counter terrorism, and cyber security. Also, the Netherlands informed the Commission about the priorities of the incoming Presidency, which correspond to the Commission’s priorities.

Both parties look forward to working closely together in the coming months.
