Visit of Dimitris Avramopoulos to China, 19/6/2025

 

 

Dimitris Avramopoulos visited China, with stops in Beijing and Shenzhen, serving as a keynote speaker as part of a broader initiative to strengthen intercultural understanding, geostrategic cooperation, and international policy dialogue between Europe and the East.

During the visit, he took part in a series of high-level events, meetings, and discussions with China’s institutional, academic, and technology stakeholders, covering areas ranging from cultural diplomacy to technology governance and the global balance of power.

As part of his program, he also joined a roundtable discussion at the Schwarzman College of Tsinghua University with leading Chinese academics and senior advisers to the State Council, focusing on EU–China relations and global governance.

He then traveled to Shenzhen, where he held a series of high-level visits, including:

  • The Huawei Cyber Security Transparency Center, for an exchange of views on digital trust and artificial intelligence.
  • The Port of Shenzhen, one of the largest transshipment hubs worldwide.
  • Meetings at Tsinghua University’s Shenzhen campus and with the leadership of Luohu District, on innovation, governance, and international cooperation.
