30 years since then…
Today marks thirty years since the Municipal Elections of 1994 — the victory that opened the way for an eight-year period of creativity, qualitative and aesthetic renewal of Athens, the strengthening of the city’s institutional stature and international prestige, as well as the successful bid and awarding of the 2004 Olympic Games.
We share this anniversary today with the Athenians and with all those who contributed to the golden years of 1994–2002, to whom I once again extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude.
